The Amazing Beach Every Georgian Will Want To Visit
St. Simons Island in Georgia offers beautiful beaches, particularly East Beach, known for its hard-packed sand and small-town community feel.
Georgia is such an incredible state. One of my favorite parts about living here is the variety of landscapes you can encounter. Within just a few hours' drive, you can see both soaring mountains and soak your toes in the ocean at a pristine shoreline. Truly, there are countless beautiful places in Georgia, but for those of us who love to indulge in the salt life, few spots are better than the beach. And one of the best beaches in Georgia can be found on St. Simons Island. This barrier island has several public beaches, and they're all marvelous, but we are particularly fond of East Beach.
If you've never been to St. Simons, you might be a little alarmed by the water at first glance. It's typically pretty brown, which can be off-putting to unsuspecting visitors.
The water color is due to sediments from nearby rivers. It's tested regularly for contamination and is as safe as that at any other beach.
The sand here is hard-packed, making it an excellent surface for strolling along the shore or biking.
This is a wide beach, with plenty of space to spread out, and it's one of the cleaner beaches in the state.
Lifeguards are on duty during the summer. During the off-season, leashed dogs are allowed on the beach.
St. Simons has a thriving small-town community feel, with plenty of shops and restaurants near the shoreline to visit.
Is there anything better than a stroll along the beach at sunset?
