Camping is easily one of our favorite activities here in Texas. Since we do it so much, sometimes it’s fun to change it up a bit and “rough it” in style. With cooler weather fast approaching, nothing is more perfect than sitting in front of a roaring fireplace in a log cabin, drinking hot cocoa and telling stories. These 7 cabins in Texas are ideal places to be your home away from home this fall.
1. Ruby Cabin (Wimberley)
This cabin is one of two brand-new cabins at Stony Ridge. The amenities are seemingly endless - there's a private nature trail, outdoor shower, fully equipped kitchen, and all the other standard features. You can sit out on the balcony and sip your morning coffee in the crisp fall air while soft music plays from the outdoor speakers. A truly perfect scene, no doubt.
2. Fortress (Canyon)
The name "fortress" comes from the Fortress Cliffs of the canyon that sit directly outside the cabin. Between this breathtaking view and the numerous amenities including a wood-burning fireplace, covered patio with porch swings, and BBQ pit, I can think of few better places in Texas to escape to this fall. Fire up the grill to warm the bellies of the entire family on a chilly night, and spend the rest of the evening admiring the gorgeous vistas and feeling as if y'all are the only people on earth.
3. Weinland Haus (Fredericksburg)
Formerly located in Tennessee, this cozy cottage was literally disassembled, brought to Texas, and rebuilt. It has a den, two bedrooms and attached bathrooms with clawfoot tubs, a fully-stocked kitchen, and a spacious patio with a grandiose rock fireplace. It's the best of both worlds - a charming, country feel while being mere minutes away from the lively town square.
4. SkyHouse (Canyon)
This modern yet rustic cabin is perched hundreds of feet above ground, giving you an unforgettable panoramic view of the entire canyon as well as the night sky peppered with stars. It's equipped with everything you need to feel at home, including a fire pit, full kitchen, covered porch, and even extra blankets for chilly nights.
5. Birdseye Perch (New Braunfels)
Nestled in the tall trees of the Texas Hill Country, this cabin is almost like a treehouse - albeit a much larger, nicer treehouse. It's cozy yet elegant and features an enormous outdoor deck for all your relaxing or entertaining purposes. You'll hear the gentle sound of the nearby Guadalupe River flowing, and a sense of contentment will overwhelm you.
6. Paper Moon Log Cabin (Wimberley)
Log cabins are arguably the most authentic cabin experience you could possibly have. They're reminiscent of winter up north when the temperature dips and you get the fireplace roaring. Paper Moon is extremely spacious, boasting 2 bedrooms and baths and every other amenity you can think of to make you as comfortable as possible. It's a quiet country home with modern living conditions - what more could you want?
7. Singing Cloud Cabin (New Braunfels)
This cabin gets rave reviews year after year, and it's no secret why. Four large trees are literally part of its foundation, so you'll feel like you're one with nature. Plus, you get your own personal dock with picnic tables, chairs, and kayaks to take for a spin on the river. It's hard to beat a place like this, y'all.
Have you been to any of these cabins? If not, which one sounds most appealing to you?
