Donuts. The most amazing childhood Saturday morning breakfast, the best snack at the soccer game and the one thing that’ll keep you coming back – time and time again. You may know Tennessee for its fried chicken, but we believe our southern flavor will make you drool. In no particular order, here’s some of our favorite places to break the diet.
15) Daylight Donuts - Pulaski
Don't diss a chain - more on that later. Daylight is right where you want to find yourself when you're in Pulaski, or just driving through. Check those sprinkles! You'll feel like you're back in elementary school again, in the best way.
14) Memphis Donuts - Memphis
Memphis Donuts. Exactly what it sounds like - great and awesome and wonderful. The blueberry glazed are supposedly to die for - try one and let us know!
13) Donut Country - Murfreesboro
This is traditional Tennessee at its finest. Grab your sweet tooth and indulge in a dutch crumb donut, why don't ya?
12) Donald's Donut's - Memphis
At Donald's, you can get a donut or a kolache. The prices are fantastically affordable, plus you can grab some extremely yummy donut holes. Sign us up - twice.
11) Fox's Donut Den - Nashville
A Nashville staple, Fox's has been around for absolute ages. Try the chocolate frosted + cream filled treat, and the fritters are real popular with the locals.
10) DoughWorks - Nashville Area
Gourmet donuts made from scratch sound great...but what we said they were on the move? DoughWorks is a Nashville based food truck that criss-crosses the city. They've taken a brief hiatus to launch Electric Sliders, but the owners promise they'll be back for sure in due time.
9) Shipley Do-Nut's - Multiple Locations
Don't frown at chains, because it just means there's more love to go 'round. Shipley's is a cult favorite and we promise - you'll love it.
8) Donut Palace - Tullahoma
Just look at the pink and the sprinkles and all the chocolate. Donut Palace just made Tullahoma a bit more amazing, don't you think?
7) Gibson's Donuts - Memphis
Red velvet donuts. That's all we have to say about this. Also every other donut at Gibson's, so there's that.
6) Dippin' Donuts - Knoxville
You don't have to break the bank to grab a donut here. They're the best kind of traditional donut
5) Julie's Darling Donuts - Chattanooga
Take a walk on the wild side with the banana split donut or the bacon maple. You can even break the rules a liiiiiiiittle more with the apple pie donut.
4) Loco Donuts - Nashville Area
Loco Donuts doesn't have a brick and mortor building, but is a local business that operates out of a food truck. They make the best baby donuts (really - they're teeny and awesome!) that you'll ever have. The cinnamon sugar flavor is wildly popular, ps. Try them with your coffee!
3) Ralph's Donut Shop - Cookeville
Two words: Pumpkin. Donuts. This local fave is precisely where you'll want to head in autumn, or any time at all.
2) Richy Kreme Donuts - Maryville
The kind of donuts that remind you of Grandma's house, make sure to to try the strawberry filled pastry. The bomb dot com.
1) Jody's Donuts and Bakery - Memphis
Oh, hey there chocolate and sugar and that pretty Memphis city. We'll hang out at the ever-popular Jody's anytime!
