Insane. Insanely talented? Insanely weird…completely insane? Totally insane. You can look at the word a bunch of different ways, and we couldn’t decide on just one. So here are a few Tennesseans that are totally insane, in their own way. Thanks to our lovely state, the world is just a bit weirder (better…?).
10) Knoxville - Quentin Tarantino
The director known for blood, gore, and some really thought-provoking films is a born and bred east Tennessee boy.
9) Nashville - Bettie Page
The cult myth and woman shrouded in mystery is a Music City baby.
8) Oak Ridge - Gore Verbinski
The director that brought you hits like "Pirates of the Caribbean" is from the Secret City, or Oak Ridge, TN. That seems quite fitting for a storyteller of rhymes and riddles.
7) Nashville - Chord Overstreet
Best known for "Glee," Chord Overstreet is aptly named for his hometown of Nashville. Music City does just the trick.
6) Sevierville - Dolly Parton
Dolly Parton is probably the most prolific of all Tennesseans, giving her hometown of Sevierville a whole new life once she rocketed to fame.
5) Paris - Cherry Jones
Here with her Tony, acclaimed actress Cherry Jones is from tiny little Paris.
4) Memphis - Kathy Bates
Givin' west Tennessee a celebrity of their own, Oscar winner Kathy Bates hails from the home of the blues.
3) Chattanooga - Lori Petty
You know her from "Orange is the New Black," but actress Lori Petty has been making waves with her quirky personality for years.
2) Franklin - Miley Cyrus
She's a bit wacky, a bit crazy, and insanely talented. Plus, the pixie haired pop princess was born in Franklin, one of the most prolific towns in Williamson County.
1) Donelson - The Fast Food Killer (!!!!)
Paul Dennis Reid may have been born in Texas, but his time as the Fast Food Killer? Was born at the Captain D's on Lebanon Pike, in Donelson.
