1. Belcourt Castle, Newport
This former summer cottage to wealthy industrialist, Oliver Hazard Perry Belmon, is stunning, but also eerie. It is suggested that numerous ghosts have been sighted on the premises and touring this house is not for the faint of heart.
2. Chestnut Hill Cemetery, Exeter
This old cemetery found in Exeter has a sordid history. Not only is it home to the famous alleged vampire known as Mercy Brown, but ghost sightings are common occurrences.
3. Old Harbor, Block Island
While Block Island has had numerous reports of paranormal activity, none are as infamous as the tale of the Palatine. Based on a shipwreck that occurred in the 1700s, there's an urban legend known by the people of Block Island where the ghostly form of the ship returns each year.
4. Athenaeum, Providence
As one of the oldest member run libraries in the nation, the Providence Athenaeum has been frequented by several great names throughout its past. One late celebrity, writer Edgar Allen Poe, is said to still haunt its halls. Edgar Allen Poe spent much time at the Athenaeum during his stint in Providence and it's no surprise he'd choose this building of all places to linger.
5. Slater Mill Historic Site, Pawtucket
Nicknamed the "birthplace of the Industrial Revolution," historic Slater Mill is an amazing place to visit to learn more about this important time in our nation's past. It's also said to be haunted by former works who perished in the mills and official ghost tours are offered seasonally.
6. Cumberland Monastery, Cumberland
This beautiful old building now houses part of the Cumberland Public Library. Frequent reports of moving objects and changes in temperature occur here and in the surrounding woods.
7. Seaview Terrace, Newport
This sprawling Newport Mansion is so chilling, it was used as the set of the cult classic series Dark Shadows. Visiting this place is sure to be a frightful experience filled with ghost sightings.
8. General Stanton Inn, Charlestown
This centuries old inn has had dozens of ghost sightings over its history. It can be found in the charming town of Charlestown.
9. School House Road, Warren
Just near the river on School House Road is the site of an alleged colonial murder of settlers. The road, where the heads of the victims were placed on pikes, is said to still be haunted by their ghosts. Only drive down this road if you're searching for a ghostly time.
10. Colt State Park, Bristol
Colt State Park in Birstol is a beautiful place to spend an afternoon, but also really creepy. It is rumored that two small children and a park worker all perished in unrelated incidents over the park's history. Ghostly sounds of child voices and other strange occurrences are all reported happenings here.
