Take an Underground ATV Tour With Mines and Meadows in Pennsylvania

I’ve been on enough ATV rides to know how much fun they can be. And with miles of multi-use trails in Pennsylvania, I’m really surprised that most people have no idea that you can go on an ATV tour here. In fact, most people probably have no idea that there’s an underground ATV Pennsylvania tour. Some of you would never even think of riding an off-road vehicle through the labyrinth and corridors of a now-defunct mine. At Mines and Meadows ATV Resort in Wampum, Pennsylvania, you can do just this! Of course, I understand that this adventure isn’t for everyone. But if you’re up for something new and exciting, then trust me, taking a tour along underground ATV trails in PA is for you.

If you ask me, this underground ride is one of the most fun things to do in Pennsylvania. Mines and Meadows is the only place in the northeastern part of the country that offers this unique opportunity to take an ATV ride below ground. Pennsylvania's landscape, which is dotted with abandoned mines, is a surprising setting for this type of fun, underground activity. The beginning of your ride is at a relatively nondescript, yet curious, doorway simply marked "Mine Entrance."

You will ride, single-file, through darkness lit only by the headlights of your ATV and those around you. The twists and tunnels through the labyrinth of the mine will keep you guessing as to what lies ahead, and you will be amazed at the crowning feature of the trip: a 3-acre underground lake.

After the end of your ride through the mine, you will feel exhilarated and ready to do it all over again. After all, who could even dream up such a wild ride? However, the fun doesn't have to end after you've emerged back above ground.

Mines and Meadows also boasts 84 miles of above-ground trails that you can explore on foot, dirt bike, or a quad. The kiddos can also have a ton of fun on the PeeWee Track. If you plan to hike the trails, we recommend wearing sturdy waterproof hiking boots. The trails can get a bit muddy in certain places. Also, it wouldn’t hurt to have AllTrails+ downloaded on your phone. You never know what the cell service will be like in those areas.

This place is unsurprisingly filled with adventures, making it perfect for a fun, action-packed day trip or weekend getaway.
