11 Struggles Everyone In Montana Can Relate To

The struggle is real in Montana. We may live in the Last Best Place, but that doesn’t mean we don’t have our occasional grievances. Here are a few things most of us have had to deal with at some point.
1. Watching nervously out of the corner of your eye for deer when you drive after dusk.
2. Shoveling snow. AGAIN.
Otherwise known as "cardio and weights."
3. Running out of the house looking disheveled and running straight into someone you know.
And no, we don’t mean a friend… it’s always your old teacher, your former boss or your ex that you see when you’re in pajama pants in public.
4. Everyone dating each other in high school.
The majority of Montanans grew up in small towns. When there are 27 people in your graduating class, your options for a prom date are quite limited.
5. Weird questions from out-of-staters.
People have some serious misconceptions about Montana.
6. This kind of traffic jam.
7. Accidentally leaving home in an outfit that isn’t appropriate for the weather.
You left in a t-shirt, promptly returning home with frostbite. So what if it was 60 degrees outside yesterday? It’s 12 today.
8. Not having a professional sports team.
In a way, this is awesome, because we all get to choose our own football team to cheer for. But it WOULD be kind of nice to have our own big stadium.
9. Allergies.
Thankfully, not ALL Montanans will relate to this one. But if you have an allergy to wheat or weeds, you’ll have to deal with some miserable months here.
10. Heading up to hike in the heart of grizzly country and forgetting your bear spray.
Not worth it. Turn back.
11. Knowing you live in paradise, but having to keep quiet about it.
The general consensus is that Montana is full. We like our space. But do you know how hard it is not to post incredible sunset photos on Facebook when your friends live in much less beautiful locations?
Despite our “struggles,” we’d still take living in Montana over life anywhere else. In fact, we happen to think the Treasure State is underrated .
