Not every hike has to be grueling or intense. If you’re looking for a fairly easy hike in Montana to take the family on this summer, head to the Flathead Valley and take the Camp Misery Trailhead to Twin Lakes. This popular destination is about four miles round trip, but it’s an easy traversing trail with some beautiful views.
The hike begins at the Camp Misery trailhead in the Jewel Basin. This area can be reached from FS Road 5392 just east of Echo Lake.
Once you’re on the trail, you’ll be treated to fresh air and scenic alpine views.

Eventually, you’ll hike through a small pass in the mountains. And that’s when you’ll see the first of the Twin Lakes.

The Jewel Basin is gorgeous and well-known, so this is a pretty popular hike for Western Montanans. It’s still peaceful, and you’ll have a few private moments, but be aware that this isn’t the best hike to take if you’re looking for solitude.
