Strange, eerie, and a bit macabre, the HearseFest in Fowlerville, Michigan, helps celebrate the start of autumn in the state in the most ghoulish way. From Oktoberfest to harvest festivals to Halloween parties, there’s something to be enjoyed by every member of the family. But there’s one festival here in the Great Lakes State that will both spook and fascinate you — and you won’t want to miss out on the HearseFest in Michigan.

The village of Fowlerville, Michigan, is set to host its 24th Annual HearseFest on the Fowlerville Fairgrounds on the third Saturday of September. Mark your calendars for one of the most unique festivals in our country — this year's event is scheduled for Saturday, September 20, 2025, starting at 10 a.m.

One of the most unique festivals in Michigan is a fantastic way to bring out the fear in all of us. HearseFest is exactly what it sounds like: a gathering of hearses from across the region. If you’ve got an appreciation for all things morbid, you’ll love this one-of-a-kind event.

Have you ever watched a Hearse Parade? In 2024, event participants attempted to break the World Record for the “Longest Parade of Hearses.” (In 2022, Funerex in South Africa was awarded the record with 122 hearses.)

Throughout the day, visitors will have the opportunity to browse various hearses and participate in fall-themed activities. You may even be able to have lunch that was cooked on the casket grills — what a fascinating thing to brag about to your friends.

Become part of the celebration by dressing in your best spooky attire for a chance to win the costume contest. Order a scary costume for the event on Etsy, make your own, or buy from a local costume shop — it'll be more fun if you dress up. You may even win the costume contest.

Attendees will also have the chance to watch a truly unique awards ceremony, which will include trophies for "Scariest Hearse" and "Best Casket Cart." While the subject matter might seem dark, never fear: HearseFest is billed as a family-friendly event, and there’s something fun for everyone. Children aged 16 and under are admitted free, provided they are accompanied by an adult spectator. Tickets for this event are only $2.

So, what are you waiting for? Gather a few equally morbid friends, clear your schedule on Saturday, September 20, 2025, and get ready for a scary good time. We hope to see you there!
