If you’ve moved away from Delaware, there will always be a big part of the First State in your heart. Whether that means you still order scrapple for breakfast even though you know your new diner doesn’t have any, or you tell your new neighbors about the Fire Control towers with way too much excitement, there are some things that you can never truly leave behind.

Delmarva restaurants and homes make the best dumplings in the country - but they're flat. When you order a delicious-sounding bowl of chicken and dumplings anywhere else, they're weird and round and doughy. Meh.
2. "I could really go for a bucket of boardwalk fries."
No Friday afternoon beach traffic in the summer? Sign me up. Other states seem to have better luck when it comes to tourists flooding towards the shores - or maybe they just have a better road system.
The Delaware Creameries in the state are some of the best in the country, and the turn out some delicious frozen treats. Trying to find good homemade ice cream anywhere else isn't easy, and even if you do, it'll never be as good as Woodside.
I drive across the country a few times a year, and every time I hit a point in the midwest where I feel landlocked and it's a seriously suffocating feeling. I don't think I could ever really live that far from the ocean, or the beautiful Delaware bay.
Delaware is so flat, that even when I travel out to West Virginia or up to the ADKs, I'm stunned by the mountains. I don't think I'd ever get used to them.
One of the hardest things about leaving Delaware is leaving Wawa. Royal Farms, Quick Check, Sheetz... they're just not the same!
