Here Are 12 Crazy Street Names In Connecticut That Will Leave You Baffled
A list of uniquely named streets in various towns, each with a quirky or interesting backstory.
When it comes to street names, I often wonder who first decided to give them unique names. Wouldn't it have been easier to just name them by number as you went along? Probably, but then it wouldn't be nearly as much fun! Whoever picked these street names was clearly having a good time when they thought of these.
1. Skungamaug Road, Tolland
The cemetery goes by the same name. To be honest, I'm not even sure how you're supposed to pronounce that.
2. Tootin Hill Road, Simsbury
Why not Quiet Hill? I have a friend who still giggles at this one every time.
3. Yellow Yellow Circle, Middletown
This town loves yellow! This photo actually captures the intersection of Yellow Yellow Circle and Yellow Road. Know what else intersects with Yellow Road? Yellow Birch, Yellow Green, and Yellow Orange.
4. Rainbow Road, East Granby
Is the fact that this road is a speedway a coincidence? Or is this the real life Mario Kart?
5. Roast Meat Hill Road, Killingworth
Now this one sounds funny, but supposedly this street got its name from a farm fire where the cows were trapped inside.
6. Satans Kingdom Road, New Hartford
Just around that bend. Oddly enough, it splits into two dead ends.
7. Lady Slipper Lane, Bristol
Maybe this is where Cinderella lost her shoe? Or maybe there are just a lot of lady slippers around here.
8. 11 O Clock Road, Weston
At this intersection, you could literally meet someone between 11 and high noon. Kind of like cowboys.
9. BMW Drive, Griswold
Don't worry! You don't actually have to drive a BMW to get on this road. But clearly somebody likes them.
10. Horse Heaven Road, Washington
Apparently, if you're a horse, this is the place to be. Or maybe it's the place to be if you own horses. It's not very clear.
11. Memory Lane, Fairfield
This is what a stroll down memory lane looks like. Just off of Lovers Lane, it seems like a lot of life happens here.
12. Drury Lane, West Hartford
It is not confirmed whether or not the muffin man actually lives here.
Have you driven down one of these roads before? Or do you know of even more crazy named streets?
