12 Things That Will Always Make Wyomingites Think Of Home
It’s hard to leave Wyoming – there’s no place in the world quite like it. No matter how far you travel, though, there are always a few things that will take you right back to your home. How many of you have thought about Wyoming when you’ve spotted these things out and about on your travels?
There aren't any mountains that compare to the Tetons and Wind River Range. Seeing mountains elsewhere might just make you homesick.
And, undoubtedly, someone saying "Look, Buffalo!"
3. Gravel Roads
When you travel out of Wyoming, it can be a little startling to see so much asphalt! Here, we go gravel, and travel on dirt roads for many of our miles.
4. Abandoned Buildings
Our landscape is dotted with ghost towns and abandoned frontier buildings, so when you see something similar in another state, you might just think of home.
Plenty of people may cringe at the idea of eating Bambi, but Wyomingites are happy to hunt and cook their own meat. Plus, venison is delicious!
6. Empty Highways
It's pretty common to drive along Wyoming's highways and barely see anyone on the road. That's not so much the case elsewhere in America.
You don't have to be a Cowboy to get a kick out of the Rodeo! Plenty of Wyomingites have favorite PBR cowboys and barrel racing cowgirls that they root for during Rodeo season.
8. Chicken Fried Steak
Why can't the rest of America get this right? There's nothing like an enormous chicken fried steak in Wyoming.
When Wyomingites get together, it's an enormous feast! Cookouts have been a state tradition for generations.
10. Country Diners
Sometimes, you don't feel like cooking. Luckily, in just about any Wyoming town, you can find a diner that will serve up some of the best home cooked meals around.
11. Windy Days
In Wyoming, we have two seasons - cold and wind. If you're lucky, you get them both on the same day.
12. Cozy, Small Towns
There are only a handful of towns in Wyoming where more than 5,000 people lay their heads. The rest of the state is full of small towns with warm, welcoming folks. When you run into one of these outside of the Cowboy State, you'll find yourself feeling at home.
