The Unique Town In Wyoming That’s Anything But Ordinary
This is not only the most unique town in Wyoming but it’s unlike any other town in the nation. Wyoming is home to the smallest town in America. You know a town with a population of 1 has to be anything but ordinary.
We’re aware that these uncertain times are limiting many aspects of life. Buford, now known as PhinDeli Town Buford, is an unincorporated community that is located between Laramie and Cheyenne on Interstate 80 in Albany County. The town was originally named after a Union cavalry officer from the American Civil War, Major General John Buford.

This town stands out as a unique town in several ways. Not only is it the smallest town in the nation but, at an elevation of 8,000, it's the highest elevated populated settlement between New York City and San Francisco along Interstate 80.

And to top it all off, the town was recently sold in 2013 to two Vietnamese men who renamed the town "PhinDeli Town Buford."

PhinDeli is a promotional name for a brand of coffee. The coffee, imported from Vietnam, is sold by the new owners of the town in what was known as the Buford Trading Post.

The town was originally founded in 1866 during the construction of the Transcontinental Railroad. At one time, the town consisted of a population of 2,000.

A post office was built in 1900 and remained in use for over 100 years. It finally closed in 2004.

Pictured is the one and only residence found in the town.

Before the Vietnamese purchased the town, it was owned by Don Sammons. Don Sammons moved to the town in 1980 with his wife and son and purchased it in 1992.

After his wife died in 1995 and his son moved away in 2007, Mr. Sammons put the town up for sale in 2012 to move closer to his son.

PhinDeli Town Buford now consists of a convenience store, gas station and modular home that sits on 9.9 acres of land.
