There is one charming cascade that has a name but doesn’t typically land on top 10 lists of waterfalls in the park. Considering its enchanting surroundings and the fact that it’s not too difficult to get to Wraith Falls, however, it should definitely be on everyone’s itinerary.
Wraith Falls got its name in 1885 when teams from the United States Geological Survey were touring the Yellowstone area.
There's not much history behind the name of the 100-foot falls. Many people say that the gentle slope and the shape formed by the water cascading down it makes them think of a ghost, and theorize that is what inspired the name.
