This hike in Wyoming will take you to the highest point in Yellowstone National Park where you can witness unforgettable views just as the sun is beginning to peak above the horizon to shine its light on our beautiful state.

To reach the summit of Mt. Washburn by sunrise, it's best to begin the hike 2 hours earlier. Dunraven Pass Trailhead is your starting point. The parking lot for the trailhead is located just north of Canyon Village along Grand Loop Road.

Both grizzly and black bears frequent this area and they are especially active early in the morning so just be aware of your surroundings.

The trail starts out pretty steep, then transforms into a series of switchbacks.

The trail flattens out and eventually merges with Chittendon Road.

There is a lookout tower at the peak of Mt. Washburn which just so happens to be the highest point in Yellowstone National Park.

This summit offers some of the best 360º panoramic views in the state. Even the wildlife think so.
