8 Breathtaking Places Where You Can Hide Away From Crowds In Wyoming
If you’re looking for remote places in Wyoming where you won’t have to see another soul, plan an excursion into the wilderness at any of these eight breathtaking destinations.
We’re aware that these uncertain times are limiting many aspects of life. 1. The Absaroka Mountains
Amphitheater Mountain is just one of the peaks that rises above 10,000 feet in elevation in the Absaroka Range. These mountains line the Montana-Wyoming border and stretch for over 150 miles. Hiking through the peaks here is certainly a remote adventure.
2. Gros Ventre Wilderness
The Gros Ventre Wilderness is the best place to enjoy Teton views without crowds. Relax for days in the campgrounds and on the trails that you'll share with all sorts of wildlife.
3. Alaska Basin
The Alaska Basin in Caribou-Targhee National Forest is a truly remote spot that's sure to take your breath away. Hike in to the region and relax by the lakes you'll encounter along the way. You'll want to bring a tent, because you'll never want to leave!
4. Bighorn National Forest
There are nearly a thousand miles of trails in Bighorn National Forest, yet it's close enough to most of us to make it a day trip destination. There's nothing like enjoying the peaks, valleys, meadows and lakes of one of the most remote places in Wyoming.
5. Wind River Range
Mountain lovers flock to the Wind River Range for some of the best hiking and backpacking in the world. The famous Cirque of the Towers is a bucket list destination for many adventurers.
6. Shoshone National Forest
Shoshone National Forest shows off some of the prettiest landscapes in the country! Some of our state's most scenic drives, the Beartooth Highway and the Chief Joseph Scenic Byway, wind their way through this remote wonderland.
7. Hole in the Wall
Hole in the Wall is one of the most remote places in Wyoming - that's why it was an outlaw hideout! If you love history, you'll love exploring the place where Butch Cassidy hid from the law.
8. Snowy Range, Medicine Bow National Forest
The Snowy Range in Medicine Bow National Forest is home to incredible hiking and fishing spots. This is one of the most remote places in Wyoming, yet it's close enough to many people to easily plan a short getaway into the mountains.
