Wyoming is prime cowboy country, but even though many of us are deeply embedded in the country way of life, there are still Wyomingites who pine to be a part of a culture they’ve never experienced. So, even if you’re a tried and true cowboy, don’t dismiss your neighbors who want to try it out for themselves. The way of life dies if nobody pursues it, so rather than smack talking them, help them learn the ropes (pun intended).
One of the largest rodeos in the world, Cheyenne Frontier Days draws visitors from all over the world. The event is a great way to embrace cowboy culture, with genuine rodeo events taking center stage throughout every day of the festivities.
Located in Cody, Wyoming, Cody Nite Rodeo is a great way to get the younger members of your family into the sport of rodeo. Unlike Cheyenne Frontier Days, Cody Nite Rodeo runs from June 1st to August 31st.

The Jackson Town Square Shootout is a reenactment of frontier justice a la your favorite Western flick. The event takes place between Memorial Day through Labor Day and is held on the corner of Town Square (Saturdays at 6:00 P.M.).

The Medicine Bow Lodge Adventure Guest Ranch is the last of the dude ranches for this list, and it’s also the best suited towards those of you with younger family members. The location takes a more hands-on approach with its younger members, even going as far as to offer daily horseback riding lessons.
