The Oldest General Store In Wyoming Has A Fascinating History
Visiting a general store is just like experiencing a blast from the past. Walking through the aisles of the store can’t help but make you reminisce about life from long ago. There’s something so nostalgic about seeing the old inviting structures and signs from another lifetime. This general store is one of the oldest in Wyoming.
Big Horn Mercantile has played an important role in the Big Horn community for well over 100 years. The historic mercantile has been around since 1882.
This was one of the few places people from the community could go and buy their necessities and spend a little time socializing.
By the 1920s, people were not only riding their horses and buggies to Big Horn Mercantile but some were beginning to drive with this new mode of transportation. Look at the Goodrich Tire sign above the door.

There's nothing any more nostalgic than drinking a bottled Coke from an old general store. Remember the occasional bottled Coke with the top layer of frozen ice?
You can sit out front either on the bench or at the table and just watch the world go by.
