Alpine is a town in Lincoln County that's located in central western Wyoming. It's a small town with a total area of .70 square miles and a population of around 850.

The town is located at the junction of US Route 89 and US Route 26 with one going north and the other going south. Because of the two routes, Alpine is sometimes referred to as Alpine Junction.

Alpine is located at the southern end of the Snake River Canyon. The canyon is formed by the Snake River in western Wyoming.

Snake River flows into Palisades Reservoir. Three rivers merge at Alpine. These rivers are the Snake, the Salt and the Greys. All three of these rivers flow into Palisades Reservoir.

The town has large seasonal temperature fluctuations. The summers range from warm to hot and the winters are severely cold.

Annual snowfall in the region averages around 500 inches. This makes winter sports such as snowshoeing, ice fishing, snowmobiling and skiing popular with outdoor enthusiasts who are willing to brave the cold.

There are just as many activities, if not more, to enjoy during the warmer months. Some of these activities include fishing, lake & reservoir recreation, ATV, mountain biking, horseback riding, camping and hiking.

Alpine may be a small town but it doesn't lack for anything. It has several lodging options, good restaurants, gas stations, grocery stores, real estate offices, library, post office and recreation center.

The little town that rests right up against the mountainside provides visitors with a small town atmosphere and a large variety of activities year round.
