Visit this creepy haunted town in Wyoming to step back in time to the challenging days of the early frontier. Gebo was once a thriving mining town, and now it sits in ruin. Some of the former residents have decided to stick around, and this chilling town is home to tremendous paranormal activity.
Gebo is an abandoned mining town that's located north of Thermopolis. At one time, it was the largest city in Hot Springs County and more than 20,000 people called it home.
Mining flourished from 1907 to 1938, but when the mines closed, most residents abandoned the town. All that's left now are ruins and spirits of the past.
Because of the difficulties of life in a mining town, most of the graves belong to young children. Visitors report hearing their cries and wails from the graveyard - the chilling sound carries through the town.
Today, you can visit Gebo if you have access to a 4x4 vehicle, although the road out is pretty rough. Stop in to see Wyoming history up close and take time to recognize the sacrifices made by families who looked for a life out west.
