Check Out This Spectacular Spot In Wyoming Where You Can Camp Right On The Beach
While not known for its beaches, Wyoming has one beach that would make any genuine beach bum green with envy (well, until winter sets in, anyway). Glendo Reservoir, located in Glendo State Park, is home to one of the largest beaches in the state. Not only that, it’s also a perfect fit for campers of all stripes. And, as promised, you can pitch your tent directly on the beach.
We’re aware that these uncertain times are limiting many aspects of life. While we continue to feature destinations that make our state wonderful, please take proper precautions or add them to your bucket list to see at a later date. If you know of a local business that could use some extra support during these times, please nominate them here: onlyinyourstate.com/nominate

Located on the North Platte River, the Glendo reservoir is 2,096 feet long. The reservoir is formed by the Glendo Dam.

Though the area is known for its water-based recreation, it also features gorgeous secluded woodlands. It’s great for anyone who wants to get a good workout on their trip instead of just lounging around on the beach.

A lot of the beaches in Wyoming are a bit underwhelming. However, Glendo is one of the few ways to get a true beach experience in Wyoming. The area is a great spot for long fish fries and late night swimming. Just don’t blame us when you get sand in places you’d prefer to not have sand.

If you’re the type who wants to get out and have adventures during your camping trips, Glendo is also very receptive to anyone who wants to boat (or as pictured above water tube).

I personally don’t camp anywhere I can’t fish, rock climb, or sleep without almost being walked over by a moose (a story for another time).
So for the rock climbers among us (I can’t be alone, there’s gotta be two or three of us) Glendo has something to offer you as well.

Glendo is a haven for fisherman, with dozens of perfectly shaded hangouts for experienced and hobbyist anglers alike.

Glendo has a variety of different camping sites, so if you’re looking for a truly isolated experience you can ditch the crowds and retreat farther off into nature. Or, if you prefer easier access to the road you can set up shop in a campsite just off of a network of paved roads.

If you prefer camping in more luxurious accommodations, Glendo has got you covered. The park is very RV friendly, just make sure to not drive on the beach. Yes, people actually do that.
