The Bizarre Festival In Wyoming That You’ll Want To Attend Year After Year
When you think Wyoming festivals, you probably picture cowboys, mountain men, rock climbing, or other outdoorsy, Old West-themed celebrations. However, one festival in the town of Cheyenne doesn’t follow the traditional formula. Once a year, the walking dead wreak mayhem creeping and crawling through the capital city, and you just gotta see it.
Since 2010, the Cheyenne Little Theatre Players have been hosting the Zombie FEST, welcoming the walking dead into the city with open arms.
The festering festivities kick off with a zombie walk through downtown Cheyenne. Everyone ends up at Depot Plaza, which serves as zombie-central for the day.
The festival is packed with loads of zombie-centric activities including a zombie hunt, an undead fashion show, bingo, an indie film festival, and a walking ghost tour of downtown Cheyenne.
You can also attend talks and presentations on topics such as pop culture and zombie defense training given by zombie experts and minor movie celebrities.
There's a Zombieland for kids, too, where they can participate in fun activities including face painting that transforms anyone into a gruesome corpse.
Don't feel bad if you missed Zombie FEST this time around. Put it on your calendar for next year. The great thing about zombies is that they look even gorier after 12 months of "ripening" - all the better to win next year's fashion show.
