More Than 10,000 Hydrothermal Natural Wonders Grace The Wyoming Landscape In Yellowstone National Park
Yellowstone National Park’s thermal features have been impressing visitors since the dawn of time. It’s easy to see why when you look around – steam rising from cracks in the earth, terraces of travertine that stretch as far as the eye can see, and beautiful bright hot springs that truly look like paintings are just some of what you’ll find here in the park! No wonder so many of us are quick to let you know that Yellowstone is the best national park in America.
We’re aware that these uncertain times are limiting many aspects of life. While we continue to feature destinations that make our state wonderful, please take proper precautions or add them to your bucket list to see at a later date. This wonderland features eight geyser basins in the main, accessible part of the park – and several backcountry basins that take a little bit of effort to see!
The terraces of Mammouth Hot Springs are sure to mesmerize you – the variety of colors and unique formations are created by the minerals left behind when the hot water evaporates.
The Artists' Paint Pots are unique hot pots that look like a painter's palette, and the trail that takes you around them is one of the best in the park.
The Upper Geyser Basin features five predictable, reliable geysers, so it's the best place to go if you want to see an eruption. Of course, Old Faithful will go off while you're here, but you'll also want to check out Castle Geyser, Grand Geyser, Daisy Geyser, and Riverside Geyser.
If you're lucky, you'll get to see a more rare geyser go off! Pictured is Beehive Geyser, which has been known to offer an eruption period more recently, usually every 11-20 hours.
