These 7 Storybook Cottages In Wyoming Will Charm You Beyond Words
Vacations are for getting away from it all, escaping the reality of everyday life. There’s no better way to accomplish that than to step out of the real world and into the pages of a storybook, and Wyoming is the place to do it.
The Cowboy State is full of opportunities to experience things you’ve only read about, and we have a number of unique places to lodge that are far from run-of-the-mill hotels and motels. In fact, you can book a stay in any of these charming cottages that look like they’re straight out of Storybook Land.
We’re aware that these uncertain times are limiting many aspects of life. While we continue to feature destinations that make our state wonderful, please take proper precautions or add them to your bucket list to see at a later date. If you know of a local business that could use some extra support during these times, please nominate them here:
1. Cottage in the Big Horn Mountains
The heart of the Big Horn Mountains is the setting for this darling little log cottage. It's tucked away back in the trees across a delightful babbling brook - you even cross a footbridge to get there.
Inside, the accommodations are just as enchanting. You'd completely expect to find three bears and a little girl with blonde ringlets sitting at the breakfast table sharing a pot of porridge.
Comfy and spacious, there's enough room for guests, though maybe not bears. This quaint cabin sleeps six and has a bathroom, full kitchen, and washer and dryer, too.
2. Cabin on the Wind River
There's a storybook cabin on the Wind River just outside of Dubois you can't help falling in love with. Wildlife frequently visits the yard...
...and the inside of the cottage itself is cozy and comfortable. Fully equipped with a kitchen, bedroom, and bathroom, it's easy to make yourself at home in this little cabin.
3. Historic Cottage in Sheridan
This captivating cottage is a departure from the log construction of the other lodging on our list. Built from bricks, it calls to mind the sturdy and snug cottage built by the smartest of the Three Little Pigs.
It's a full home with two bedrooms, a bathroom, washer and dryer, and a full kitchen. Plus, rather than being located in the woods, this storybook cottage is within walking distance of downtown Sheridan.
4. Cottage at Anchor Ranch
It's hard to beat the Jackson Hole Valley when it comes to unique experiences. Where else - other than in a Disney animated feature - can you mingle with enchanting wildlife?
The log cottage at the Anchor Ranch outside of Jackson is just such a place, and it's captivating inside, too. Though there's a main lodge, you'll be self-sufficient in the cabin by a pond. It comfortably accommodates three and has a bathroom, fully-equipped kitchen, and WiFi.
5. Cabin by Big Goose Creek
This cute cottage is a one-room cabin is on the grounds of a ranch about 7 miles west of Sheridan. The rustic accommodations include a loft for extra guests, a compact kitchen, and a quaint river rock patio perfect for barbecues or just sitting and soaking in the peace and quiet.
6. Vee Bar Guest Ranch near Laramie
A little over 20 miles west of Laramie sits an idyllic guest ranch with roots in Wyoming history. There you'll find a charming cabin that you'll swear you've seen before in the pages of your favorite childhood storybook.
This cottage offers the best of two worlds - it's secluded and private with a mini fridge and coffee maker, perfect for unplugging and unwinding. But it's also close to the main lodge and the amenities it offers such as a hot tub and the dining facilities.
7. Cottage at Fireside Resort
On the Moose-Wilson Road between Jackson and Wilson, you'll find the Fireside Resort. It's actually a little village of cozy cottages that look as if they've been pulled straight from the pages of a picture book.
Though they look rustic and picturesque on the outside, inside these cottages are all luxury with high ceilings, fireplaces, kitchenettes, and private bathrooms.
