10 Things People Miss The Most About Wyoming When They Leave
Wyoming is an amazing place to live, but you can’t fault anyone for wanting to experience a different part of the country. Who among us doesn’t go through a period of mild wanderlust? The world is a big place, and some people want to see more than a tiny corner of it. With that being said, experiencing a mild case of homesickness is to be expected. Below are the top ten things people miss about Wyoming after they leave.
Regardless of your definition of what a small town is (to some people Cheyenne would be a small town), it’s hard to not feel a bit nostalgic for the less populated areas of the state. It can be nice not to have a neighbor in sight.
However, neighbors are there even when you can't see them. Knowing them makes life a lot easier. You know who to ask when you need to borrow a snow blower, and you're equally as willing to lend a hand.
Some people really like big cities and being around a lot of people and there’s nothing wrong with that. Still, it's nice to know that we don't need to share this big, beautiful state too much.
6. One of the lowest violent crime rates in the nation.
Low air pollution means an awesome view of the stars and no smog. So, Wyomingites get to stargaze to our heart’s content and live in towns that don’t smell like an old boot being used as an ashtray.
Contrary to what individual experiences may have led you to believe, Time Magazine’s report on the "mood map" compiled by researchers at the University of Cambridge shows that Wyoming is statistically a state full of friendly people.
The Luxury Diner is both a great diner and a historical venue. It’s actually made from a refurbished trolley car, and the interior has remained largely unchanged since. The joint also has some of the best food in the state.
I’m well aware that Wyoming’s Taco John’s has a presence in states all over the country, but Wyoming has more than 2 dozen locations compared to other states which are lucky to have two. So unless you’re one of those people who prefers Taco Bell odds are you’re going to miss Wyoming’s Tex-Mex fast food chain.
