The Hidden Castle In Wisconsin That Almost No One Knows About
The History Museum at the Castle in Appleton is one of those spots that locals seem to know about, but everyone else is in the dark on. This stunning building from the 1920’s used to be a Masonic temple and is on the National Register of Historic Places. Now it’s a very cool museum with history of the Fox Valley dating back to before Wisconsin was a state.

Situated near the Fox River, this gorgeous structure is also near the Lawrence University campus.
Though just around 100 years old, the building features Norman Revival architecture and is reminiscent of a medieval castle. There's the rough-hewn exterior, plus big leaded glass windows, vaulted ceilings, and exposed beams.
You'd have to go looking for the museum, but once you find it, there's no mistaking that in the middle of the state, there's a somewhat hidden castle just waiting to be found.
As well as one of the biggest Houdini exhibits you'll ever find — he was from the area. The hands-on display about the magician is fun and informative for adults and kids alike.
The History Museum at the Castle is located at 330 E. College Avenue., Appleton, WI 54911. Admission is $8 for adults, $4 for children and $22 for a family of four. The Museum is open Tuesday through Sunday 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Have you ever visited? Let us know in the comments.
