There’s A Breathtaking Motel Tucked Next To This Wisconsin State Park
As local travel experts, we know what travelers are looking for when it comes to finding the perfect accommodations for their next trip. To compile our lists, we scour the internet to find properties with excellent ratings and reviews, desirable amenities, nearby attractions, and that something special that makes a destination worthy of traveling for.
The state parks in Door County are treasures filled with towering cliffs, sweeping views, and wild beaches. While it’s possible to camp in these beautiful parks, there’s a place where you can take in all the wonder without pitching a tent. Just make a reservation at Julie’s Park Cafe & Motel – it’s a lodging property that’s so close to Peninsula State Park, you practically need a park sticker to check in. It’s one of the best Door County motels if you’re planning on spending a lot of time at the park. Here’s why.
There are three things you need to know about this motel. Location, location, location. Julie's Park Cafe & Motel is right off of Highway 42 in the heart of Fish Creek. You can literally walk or bike into the park.
The business has been around for a very long time, and it was once called the Peninsula Motel. In 1997, an entrepreneur named Julie Giller purchased a restaurant called the Black Locust, made it a family friendly breakfast and lunch spot, and also purchased the motel next door. Shane and Sande Solomon, the current owners, took over the operation in 2010.
They kept the name, but the Solomons continue to make updates in the motel and cafe. So, while this is a classic lodging property, things are always fresh.
The place has a great Door County vibe. Lumber from the property and around Door County was used to create the furnishings. Sit back and relax in an Adirondack chair or head into the cafe for some cheese curds!
While Door County can be a pricy getaway, Julie's Motel has some very reasonable rooms - the rates are especially good in the shoulder seasons, so it's an affordable base camp for an early spring or late fall adventure.
