Equal Parts Scenic And Strenuous, The Old Settler’s Trail In Wisconsin Is Worth Every Step

Rugged, rocky, and a bit steep at times, Old Settler’s Trail is far from the easiest hike in Wisconsin. In fact, it may be among the most difficult. However, the strenuous trek is completely worth it since it leads to amazing vistas that seem to go on forever. Take a look:

The Old Settler’s Trail can be found at Wildcat Mountain State Park in Ontario.

Of the more than 20 miles of trails that fill the park, Old Settler’s Trail is one of the most popular, which probably has something to do with the fact that it’s brimming with incredible sights and vistas.

Rated as moderate to difficult, the 2.5-mile loop trail features several heart-pounding climbs. Overall, there’s a 541-foot elevation gain.

Though the trail can be a bit strenuous at times, it’s well-marked, making it relatively easy to navigate.

The trail may be just 2.5 miles; however, it’s packed with scenic beauty – and there are a couple of great spots for taking it all in.

Beautiful vistas can be found at the trailhead as well as Taylor Hollow Overlook.

Expansive views aren’t the only natural beauty that can be found along the trail.

As you meander through the deep hardwood forest, you’ll come across sculpted sandstone rock formations.

Have your camera ready because the close-up views are plentiful – and absolutely amazing!

A challenging trek with a big payoff, Old Settler's Trail is proof that nothing is worth doing unless it requires effort.
