You’re Bound To Have A Gouda Time At Baumgartner’s, Wisconsin’s Oldest Cheese Store

Wisconsin is full of cheese shops; however, only one takes the title as the state’s oldest – and it’s Baumgartner’s. Stuffed to the brim with both local and imported cheeses, it’s a must-visit for fromage fans. But you can do more than shop while at Baumgartner’s. You can also grab a tasty meal in the shop’s adjoining tavern. Take a look:

Sweet dreams are made of cheese! If you agree, you’ve got to pay a visit to Baumgartner’s, a longstanding cheese store and tavern.

Fittingly, it’s located in Monroe, *the Swiss Cheese Capital of the USA*.

Opened in 1931, it’s Wisconsin’s oldest cheese store.

Having been around for nearly 100 years, Baumgartner’s reputation has spread far and wide, attracting visitors and tourists alike.

Those who have visited Baumgartner’s definitely wouldn’t disabrie that the selection of merchandise, which includes Wisconsin’s finest cheeses, imported cheeses, and specialty foods, is sure to impress.

The perks aren’t limited to the merchandise, though.

Baumergartner’s also includes a tavern, which...

...has a reputation for serving up the world’s best cheese sandwiches.

Consistently delicious, the cheese sandwiches haven’t changed much since 1931. Today, just like decades ago, they’re made with a thick slice of cheese and dark rye bread.

A custom creation, the sandwich is made with the cheese of your choosing. Also, you can beef it up with some fresh salami or braunschweiger.
