When the temperatures finally warm, Wisconsin outdoor festivals begin to appear like spring blossoms. One of the best little spring festivals can be found in the charming community of Baraboo. The Spring Fair on the Square is the perfect way to celebrate the season. It’s filled with art and entertainment, as well as a few flowers – here’s why you should attend Spring Fair on the Square, one of Wisconsin’s best spring festivals.
Baraboo, pop. 12,000, is a historic city on the Baraboo River in Sauk County. As early as 1665, it was a Kickapoo Village. The modern community was founded in 1838 – early settlers built homes around a saw mill.
Baraboo became famous as a circus town, and there are still a lot of fun events in Baraboo throughout the year, including a lively farmers market. It’s the place to go for fresh fruits and vegetables.
But one of the best events happens each spring. The Spring Fair on the Square, which coincides with the market, draws thousands of people to downtown Baraboo.
The event is anchored by a huge arts and crafts fair. Over 170 crafters, artists, and photographers participate in the fair. There’s an amazing selection - allow plenty of time to explore all the stands.
This colorful spring festival typically takes place in early to mid-May. Check the City of Baraboo’s Spring Fair on the Square website for dates, times, and a schedule of events. Baraboo’s is not the only party in Wisconsin: There are many more exciting events in the Badger State that you must remember to put on your calendar.
