There Are More Waterfalls Than There Are Miles Along This Beautiful Hiking Trail In Wisconsin
There’s a short trail in northern Wisconsin where every single step is spectacular. In Amnicon Falls State Park, there’s a little lollypop loop of a trail that takes visitors past not one, not two, but three gorgeous waterfalls. And if that’s not enough, there’s a fourth waterfall on a side trail, just steps away. It’s an incredible hike that’s appropriate for even the littlest hiker or park visitors on the shortest timeframe. It’s one of the best little hikes in Wisconsin. Here’s what’s waiting for you on the trail.
You’ll find Amnicon Falls State Park about 10 miles east of Superior in far northern Wisconsin. It’s known for its series of waterfalls along the Amnicon River.
A trail that is far less than a mile will take you past several incredible falls. The length of the hike will depend on the parking area you select, but in any event, it will be short. The Lower Falls is the largest waterfall in the park, dropping 18 feet into a deep gorge.
Upper Falls is the second waterfall in the series. It drops 15 feet into a narrow chute before flowing over a series of smaller cascades. Other waterfalls in the park include the Now-and-Then Falls and the Snake Pit Falls.
You can approach your hike from either side of the river – scenic connecting bridges will take you across. While the hike is short, allow plenty of time. The views are incredible!
