The Tiny Shop In Milwaukee That Serves Homemade Ice Cream To Die For
Milwaukee summers are bustling with nonstop fun, and it’s always a good idea to stop for an ice cream break, but let’s be honest… ice cream is amazing any time of the year! This beloved shop has ingredients that are ethical, their decor recycled, and flavors that are out-of-this-world! Everything about this little spot is worth celebrating, and it serves homemade ice cream that is absolutely to die for.

This Walker's Point spot serves up delicious treats for you to enjoy year-round, but they also have an awesome backstory and are doing incredible things in the community.

Lauren dreamed of opening an ice cream shop as a kid, and her love for the color purple and creating flavors drove the idea of Purple Door into a reality. Steve supported Lauren's dream, and the two teachers took their passion for learning and expressing creativity to bring Purple Door to life. They started making ice cream in their kitchen in Bay View!

While you can still buy pints of the sweet treats, and they do still sell to local businesses and grocers, they've expanded to a storefront location that features cones, dishes, and shakes that are to die for.

The little homemade shop serves up some of the most unique flavors, and they use all local ingredients. They even get their milk from Wisconsin farmers!

Everything from the flooring to the carpets are primarily made of recyclable material. Purple Door is committed to the environment and uses compostable spoons and cups. Not only that, they're very dedicated to their hometown and support many community initiatives.

The spoons on their counter-front are from friends all over the world!

You might be familiar with flights of beer, but here you can try a whole flight of this sweet dessert! You'll definitely need a whole flight because with ever-changing flavors, you'll want to try it all.

Purple Door makes their ice cream in small batches, and uses top-of-the-line ingredients which are often locally sourced. Some of their unique flavors include: Beer and Pretzel, Whiskey, Cardamom, Garam Masala, Brandy Old Fashioned, Spicy Chocolate, and many, many more. They also have all of the classics and a wide variety of sorbets.

...and we're not surprised!

Not only do they serve up homemade ice cream to write home about, they're a thoughtful and friendly business that is doing a lot for the community as a whole. We love Purple Door Ice Cream, and you should too!
