If You Live In Milwaukee, You Must Visit This Amazing State Park
Wisconsin has dozens of beautiful state parks, but right here in the heart of downtown Milwaukee we have our very own piece of nature. For being such an urban area, we still have the treasure of natural beauty right upon Lake Michigan. If you’re in Milwaukee, you simply must get out and explore this awesome state park!
We’re aware that these uncertain times are limiting many aspects of life. While we continue to feature destinations that make our state wonderful, please take proper precautions or add them to your bucket list to see at a later date. If you know of a local business that could use some extra support during these times, please nominate them here: onlyinyourstate.com/nominate

This beautiful park is located right on the shores of Lake Michigan and is almost completely surrounded by water. The peninsula of the park is known as Harbor Island, which was made in the 1980's to protect the festival grounds that sit behind it. Today, Lakeshore State Park is one of Wisconsin's newest, reaching completion in 2007.

Within the 22-acre park is a 1.7 mile trail that connects the Hank Aaron and Oak Leaf trails. Lakeshore Bridge connects the park to downtown, and is arguably one of the best spots to see the Milwaukee skyline.

Between the flowers upon the trails, tree swallow spottings, and a great lake as a backdrop, there's no better place to catch your breath in the midst of the downtown bustle. Lakeshore is a great place for birdwatchers, fishermen, and kayakers in the lagoon too! Whether you want great views or a great spot for outdoor activities, this place has it all.

Any time of year this landmark connects nature to our city. It's truly a Milwaukee gem, and non-profit organizations like Friends of Lakeshore State Park are dedicated to keeping the park great for the community. This park is a must-see, and there's always a way to be involved in keeping it the treasure it is.
