Milwaukee is one of the most underrated cities in the country, but it’s slowly being recognized by the public, especially here in the Midwest. Milwaukeeans truly make our little city a place where you can feel at home unlike anywhere else. Milwaukee might be underrated, but here’s eight ways it’s becoming the coolest place to be.

Milwaukee is full of creatives, and you can see it everywhere. Whether you're walking down the street or into one of our many art galleries or museums, MKE is full of artists of every kind.
Last year our state was ranked 2nd in the country for small businesses, and here in Milwaukee they're really making an impact. With dozens and dozens of local businesses, it’s easy to give back into the community. What's even better is that many of the small shops make an effort to give back in various ways too!
It's true, we love our coffee. Competing with cities like Seattle or Denver, the coffee culture is on point. We have many artisan shops filled with local art, and most of these shops give back to the community, too.
Milwaukee often gets a bad rep for our drinking habits, but we're serious about our craft beer too. There are local brewers popping up everywhere, so you can always crack a cold one with a friendly face.
In 2008, Milwaukee was ranked as one of 25 solar cities. It falls in place with our values, and there's even an organization called Milwaukee Shines that's dedicated to using solar energy. Milwaukee is definitely a "green" city all around!
The food scene here simply can't be beat. Outsiders don't think much of it, but there's so much culture here and our food shows it. Whether you're hungry for authentic Mexican food, a brat, burger, or you're looking for a vegan option—we have it all.
Whenever there's difficulties in our city, we band together. If you live here you'll know that we're one community that sticks together. And it's really cool.
A Milwaukeean will never let you down. You can travel near or far, and at the end of the day you won't find friendlier or more community-minded people than the ones of Brew City, and it makes this place a little cooler than everywhere else.
