We’re aware that these uncertain times are limiting many aspects of life as we all practice social and physical distancing. While we’re continuing to feature destinations that make our state wonderful, we don’t expect or encourage you to go check them out immediately. We believe that supporting local attractions is important now more than ever and we hope our articles inspire your future adventures! And on that note, please nominate your favorite local business that could use some love right now:
1. Wake up and enjoy your coffee at Colectivo by the lake!
Colectivo has numerous locations, but the one on Lincoln Memorial Drive is the perfect spot to sip your coffee, eat a breakfast burrito, and look out upon the lake.
2. Take a mid-morning stroll through Lakeshore State Park.
While you're in the area, you can spend a relaxing morning with a stroll through the beautiful Lakeshore State Park. Located right on Lake Michigan, you can walk beside the coast past beautiful architecture, including Discovery World and the Art Museum. The trails are full of flowers, so make sure to stop and smell them!
3. While you're at it, check out the Milwaukee Art Museum.
Walking on by all of these beautiful buildings, you must stop in some! The Milwaukee Art Museum is a must-see. If it's the first Thursday of the month, you can even get in free!
If you time your trip right, make sure to stop and marvel at the elegant wings unfurl at 10 a.m., close and reopen at noon, or fold for the evening at 5 p.m. (or 8 p.m. on Fridays)!
4. Next, stroll on over to the Third Ward for some shopping.
No Milwaukee day is complete without a trip to the Historic Third Ward. You'll find cute streets to stroll down and small businesses to shop (or window-shop) from, including the iconic t-shirt shop Milwaukee Home.
5. Have lunch at the Milwaukee Public Market.
The Public Market is the perfect downtown spot to grab a midday meal. Whether you're hungry for tacos, greek food, or an amazing sandwich or salad, the market literally has it all.
6. When you're done, take a stroll upon the RiverWalk.
Winding through downtown upon the Milwaukee River is the beautiful RiverWalk. You can stroll along the water to your next destination, and don't forget to stop for a selfie with the iconic
Bronze Fonz statue!
7. It's time for a drink! Head on over to the Irish Pub and hop on a pedal tavern!
Pedal taverns are famous on Milwaukee streets. Grab some friends and hop on one of these bar-on-wheels for your own drinking excursion. You can choose what bars to stop at along the way!
8. When you're done getting your drink on, grab dinner at Oakland Gyros.
This east side spot is a Milwaukee legend. This family-owned Greek restaurant has the best gyros in town. "OG's" is open late... and don't forget the cucumber sauce!
9. For dessert, hit The Drive Thru.
On your way home, hit The Drive Thru for some freshly baked donuts. This spot is convenient any time, day or night, and is a must-taste in Milwaukee.
10. Before the night is over, you must stop at Leon's.
A Milwaukee day is not complete without custard. We don't care if you already ate dessert at The Drive Thru. End your perfect Milwaukee day with a stop by Leon's Frozen Custard. There's nothing better than these heavenly frozen treats!
