The Leo Frigo Memorial Bridge carries thousands of cars daily on a trip high above the city; it’s an incredible bridge with some fantastic vistas. Here’s what you need to know about the Leo Frigo Memorial Bridge, the tallest and most impressive bridge in Wisconsin:

The bridge was built back in 1981 – it spans the mouth of the Fox River, where it empties into the waters of Green Bay. It was originally called the Tower Drive Bridge, but in 2001 it was renamed after Leo Frigo, a Green Bay civic leader and philanthropist.

The structure is a tiered arch bridge -- similar bridges of this type can be found in Pennsylvania and Oregon.

The bridge is a giant. It’s the tallest in the state, even taller than structures like the Hoan Bridge in Milwaukee. It stands 203 feet tall and it’s 1.5 miles long. The longest span is 450 feet.

The bridge has had a few issues – it sagged in 2013 due to structural issues and it had to be temporarily closed for repairs. The bridge was fixed at a cost of more than $8 million. There also have been some suicide attempts on the bridge - signs with help numbers have been posted.
