There’s Nothing Better Than A Day Trip To Wisconsin’s Most Underrated Lake
As spring warms us up, it’s time to start thinking about getting off the couch and into Wisconsin’s natural beauty. On your next day off, take a day trip to Madison for a visit to this pretty lake.
Lake Wingra is a beautiful lake in the middle of Madison.
Lake Wingra was created by a melting glacier 15,000 years ago. It got its name from the ancestral Ho-Chunk word for "duck."
This little 336-acre lake has so much to do that you'll definitely want to spend the entire day here.
Play on the beach - build a sand castle and bask in the sun.
Fish right from the dock.
Take a stroll along the boardwalk trail.
Rent some lake toys at Wingra Park. Rentals include kayaks, canoes, paddle boats, paddle boards and more.
Spend some time on a paddle board.
Paddling around is one of the best ways to explore the lake.
Give log rolling a try. Rent a log, hop on and see how long you can stay on top without falling off.
Of course, a day of fetch is considered the best activity by some lake visitors.
Sometimes, spending a few moments alone in this beautiful place is just the ticket.
Want to see your kids put down their phones for an entire day? Bring them here!
