It’s a bit of an adventure to reach the Albatross Drive-In. You need to drive to the end of the Door County Peninsula and then take either the car ferry or the passenger ferry out of Gills Rock. If you take the passenger ferry, you might want to bring a bike along to complete your journey.
The Albatross has been around since 1977 and it’s known for its burgers, which are made with beef that’s ground fresh on the island. Choose a classic cheeseburger, or go with something more decked out, like “The Alby,” which is made with Swiss cheese, bacon and all the trimmings.
While this is a great place to get burgers and fries, don’t think of it as fast food – leave that concept at home. Order, and enjoy a little island time while someone cooks up your food with care.
It’s easy to relax here. There are glider swings for adults, a sandbox with toys for children, patio umbrellas and shaded picnic areas. Pull up a seat and see if food does taste better at the Albatross!
