West Virginians are a special kind of people. They are quite possibly some of the best people you’ll ever come across. Here are 10 reasons why.

We’d give you the shirt off our backs. I’ve heard so many stories of West Virginians being kind to other people that I know it’s true.

We love to be outside in nature.

From the famous musicians (like Bill Withers and Michael W. Smith) who come from West Virginia to the musicians who regularly play the Vandalia Gathering each year, West Virginia is full of talented people.

Call us thrill seekers, but we never have to go too far for adventure. In West Virginia it's right around the corner.

According to Business Insider, West Virginia spent the least amount of money per capita on the website Ashley Madison, which is a site for married people who are looking to cheat on their spouses. Alabama spent the most money, at nearly $6 per person, and West Virginia spent the least at about $1 per person.

A lot of us were raised in church on the Golden Rule: Do unto others as you would have them do unto you. The result is that we have very strong morals here in West Virginia.

Approximately 202,000 veterans live in West Virginia, out of a population of about 1.8 million, according to state’s Veterans History Project. That’s the highest number per capita in the nation, according to the project.

Mine distasters, chemicals in our water, floods. You name it, we’ve lived through it.

Have you ever passed a West Virginian who didn't smile or wave at you as you walk down the street? I doubt it.

Ask a West Virginian what they love about West Virginia and you better be prepared to listen for a while. I’ve never met a West Virginian who couldn’t name several reasons why they love this state.
