11 Struggles Everyone In West Virginia Can Relate To

We all love living in West Virginia, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t struggles, too. Tell me if you all can relate to these:

1. Avoiding deer in the road while driving.

They seem to come out of nowhere.
2. Being from a small town no one outside the state has heard of.

This is why we usually just say the county or region we grew up in.
3. Not knowing what kind of weather to expect in March.

Let's just say it's hard to pick an outfit in spring time.
4. With the state's employment outlook, it can sometimes be a struggle to decide whether to stay in West Virginia or leave.

This can be a hard decision, even though we love our home state.
5. Wanting a bloody mary with Sunday brunch but not being able to have it because of some antiquated law.

6. Having to travel to see your favorite musicians (unless you like country or Americana).

7. Having too many great places to hike to choose from.

8. Convincing people that West Virginians wear shoes.

Come to think of it, there are a lot of wrong stereotypes about West Virginians.
9. The struggle of driving in the spring time with all the potholes that developed over the winter.

10. Wanting to raft the Gauley River but also being scared out of your mind to do it.

11. Trying to convince people that West Virginia is its own state.

We've been separate from Virginia since 1863 and people still haven't grasped it.
