The Top Secret Beach In West Virginia That Will Make Your Summer Complete
One thing West Virginia is not known for is its beaches. And even if you have been somewhere that has a beach, you might not know it even exists. Until now.
Tucked away in the corner of Cacapon State Park, there is a little beach that a lot of people don't really know about until they arrive. And even then, they might not discover its existence.
The beach sits on the shores of Cacapon Lake, named after the Native American word that translates to "medicine waters." It is historically believed that the lake water has healing properties.
The lake itself is very small compared to the total size of the 6,000-acre park. It is on the southern end of the park adjacent to the boathouse. The beach has a snack bar with nearby opportunities to go paddle-boating.
Aside from the beach, the park has several other activities, including hiking, horseback riding, biking, fishing, geocaching, and golf. You can also book a lodge or cabin if you wish to stay for several days and enjoy everything the park has to offer.
