The Drive-Thru Christmas Lights Display In West Virginia The Whole Family Will Enjoy
With so many exciting events and festivities happening around the state of West Virginia during the winter, you’ll find that your calendar is quickly filling up with things to do. Giving you one more thing to tack onto your to-do list, see why you’ll want to make a trip out to Kanawha County before this winter’s over!
Opening up to the public on November 29, the St. Albans Festival of Lights event is right around the corner.
Happening in the St. Albans City Park, the light display will be entering its 31st year in Kanawha County this winter season.
Since 1988, people from all around West Virginia have been making their way out to this local park to check out an array of dazzling lights.
Generally speaking, visitors can expect to spend at least a half-hour driving through the entire display that's set up in the park.
This year the St. Albans Festival of Lights display is set to have a new, updated tunnel of lights...
...the lamp from ‘A Christmas Story’, dragons, deputy dogs, and all sorts of exciting new displays!
West Virginian residents who attend the festival this year will also get to see Santa, enjoy hot chocolate, other drinks, and cookies while they’re here, with the Santa House open to the public during the park’s hours.
To make this holiday outing even more memorable, you can even spend $5 to get a candy cane and a picture taken with Santa. You're also welcome to just take pictures with old Saint Nick on your own cameras and phones.
A mesmerizing display that's open nightly through December 26, the festival is free to attend. However, monetary and/or non-perishable food donations are always accepted to support West Virginia’s local churches and nonprofit food banks.
So pick a date and plan your visit. There's a good reason the St. Albans Festival of Lights has been up and running in West Virginia for so long!
