9 West Virginia Natural Wonders You Need To Add To Your Outdoor Bucket List For 2020
West Virginia is brimming with natural wonders that are well worth your time to see. We’re highlighting just 9 of them here: some of the best of the best!

The Bear Rocks Preserve in the Dolly Sods Wilderness Area of West Virginia is a mountain-top plateau with vegetation similar to locations much further north in Canada.

Douglas Falls, on the Blackwater River in Monongahela National Forest, is a stunning contrast in color.

To get to the overlook (which is worth the trip in and of itself) you have to pass through a magnificent virgin red spruce forest.

North Fork Mountain is the driest high mountain in West Virginia and an anticline mountain, giving it a unique structure and ecosystem.

Despite its name, the New River is considered by many to be the oldest river in the world.

This sheer rock face rises 900 feet above the North Fork River and portions of it are inaccessible apart from a technical rock climb.

At the overlook, a unique erosional rock stack stands before a wide vista of Blackwater Canyon surrounded by Monongahela National Forest.

The park is a Registered Natural Landmark thanks to its expansive virgin forest made up of mostly hemlock trees.

The formations inside Lost World Caverns are incredible, including the Bridal Veil, Goliath, Snowy Chandelier, Ice Cream Wall, Castle, and War Club.
What an amazing state! Here are some additional details about a few of these wonders: Bear Rocks Preserve, Douglas Falls, Gaudineer Knob, Cathedral State Park, and Lost World Caverns. Which one are you most looking forward to seeing?
