Go For A Socially Distant Ride Through West Virginia’s Appalachian Mountains With Mountain Rail
Great news, guys! Our favorite West Virginia train company, Mountain Rail (also known as Durbin and Greenbrier Valley Railroad and including Cass Scenic Railroad) is re-opening July 4th with a partial calendar of safe, socially distant train rides!
We’re aware that these uncertain times are limiting many aspects of life as we all practice social and physical distancing. While we’re continuing to feature destinations that make our state wonderful, we don’t expect or encourage you to go check them out immediately. We believe that supporting local attractions is important now more than ever and we hope our articles inspire your future adventures! And on that note, please nominate your favorite local business that could use some love right now: https://www.onlyinyourstate.com/nominate/
Here’s more information on the currently available Bald Knob trip; here’s the scoop on the Durbin Rocket. For more information and to book a train ride, visit the Durbin & Greenbrier Valley Railroad booking calendar.
Or, if you can’t make it to the various depots in person this year, the folks at Mountain Rail have provided virtual tours of most of their train routes, watchable here.
Which of these trains have you ridden? Which one was your favorite experience?
