This Zero Cost Train Ride In West Virginia Is Up And Running Again And You’ll Want To Visit ASAP

One little team of people in Clarksburg is giving something back to the community. Keith Mason built a steam engine railroad in 1974 on his property. He assembled a committed team to keep the Locust Heights & Western Railroad running, and their love and passion shines through. They’ve been providing free rides on the property ever since.

We’re aware that these uncertain times are limiting many aspects of life as we all practice social and physical distancing. While we’re continuing to feature destinations that make our state wonderful, we don’t expect or encourage you to go check them out immediately. We believe that supporting local attractions is important now more than ever and we hope our articles inspire your future adventures! And on that note, please nominate your favorite local business that could use some love right now:

Locust Heights & Western Railroad is located at 115 Locust Heights Dr, Clarksburg, West Virginia, WV 26301. You can visit their Facebook page for updates on the steam engine repair or to donate to the project.
