This Secluded West Virginia Forest Lake Belongs In A Fairy Tale

The weather is warming up in West Virginia, and it’s time to start thinking about day trips to some of our beautiful lakes. You might not have been to Lake Sherwood. It’s one of West Virginia’s best kept secrets! This picturesque lake in the middle of the Monongahela Forest has a beautiful beach area and small islands to explore. It’s perfect for a family day trip.

To get to Lake Sherwood from White Sulphur Springs, travel north on State Route 92 for 15 miles to Neola, West Virginia. Turn east (right) on State Route 14 and travel 11 miles to the lake.
