Most People Don’t Know This West Virginia Zoo And Adventure Park Even Exists
There are very few places to observe wild animals in in this state, but Hovatter’s Wildlife Zoo has been West Virginia’s zoo for 25 years.
Hovatter's Wildlife Zoo is open from April to October and on weekends in November. They have 30 different species of animals from across the globe.
The zoo, owned by Bryan Hovatter, is the only facility in West Virginia with a full pride of lions and chimpanzees.
Among the animals there are leopards, tigers, grizzly bears, camels, deer, cougars and lemurs, among others.
Also, with the exception of the lions and other carnivores, you can actually feed about half of the animals in the zoo.
The opening and closing dates differ from year to year, but always open sometime in April and close in November. Hovatter's Wildlife Zoo is located at 291 Wagner Lane in Kingwood.
