This Terrifying Foot Bridge In West Virginia Will Make Your Stomach Drop
This bridge at a Pendleton County climbing area is not for the faint of heart. Are you brave enough to cross it?
Nelson Rocks, a largely privately owned rock formation under the name NRocks Outdoor Adventures in Pendleton County, has a foot bridge that will make your knees weak.The bridge is 150 feet high and 200 feet across. As you can see, the bridge is made of wood slats and cable.
The bridge is part of the Via Ferrata climb. The entire climb is 3.5 to 5 hours and it gains 1085 in elevation. Anyone can take the climb as long as they’re in good physical shape and at least 13 years old.
The name Via Ferrata is Italian for iron road. There’s a protected climbing route in the Alps with the same name. It’s basically a climbing route with a steel cable that runs along the route. Climbers attach themselves to the cable so they don’t fall.
