Ever wonder which counties in West Virginia drink the most alcohol? Here are the 12 drunkest counties in West Virginia. We ranked these based on each county’s percentage of excessive drinking. Each of them have at least a 13 percent percentage of excessive drinking. The ties were broken by the number of bars per 10,000 residents in each county as reported on findthehome.com.
Here are the results:

Roane County has a 13 percent rate of excessive drinking and there are .68 bars per 10,000 people.

Marshall County has a 13 percent excessive drinking rate and there are 7.31 bars per 10,000 people.

Monongalia County has a 13 percent rate of excessive drinking and there are 7.72 bars per 10,000 people.

Gilmer County has a 14 percent rate of excessive drinking and there are 2.3 bars per 10,000 people.

Jefferson County has a 14 percent excessive drinking rate and there are 5.36 bars per 10,000 people.

Berkeley County has a 14 percent excessive drinking rate and there are 5.58 bars per 10,000 people.

Fifteen percent of people in Fayette County reported drinking excessively and there are 4.14 bars per 10,000 people there.

Hancock has a 15 percent rate of excessive drinking and there are 9.18 bars per 10,000 people.

Brooke County has a 15 percent excessive drinking rate and 10.03 bars per 10,000 people.

Calhoun County has a 16 percent rate of excessive drinking and there are 1.32 bars per 10,000 people.

Seventeen percent of people in Tyler County reported drinking excessively and there are 3.9 bars per 10,000 people there.

Pocahontas has a 21 percent rate of excessive drinking and 4.59 bars per 10,000 people, making it number 1 for drunkeness.
