The Exhilarating Bridge Walk In West Virginia That Everyone Must Experience At Least Once

The New River Gorge Bridge, the longest single-span arch bridge in America, is an architectural marvel and beloved West Virginia icon located near Fayetteville. You can drive right over the top of this amazing bridge on U.S. Route 19… or you can walk single-file along the two-foot-wide catwalk that runs the full length of the bridge just underneath the road’s surface. It’s an absolutely amazing experience that takes you high above the New River Gorge in a once-in-a-lifetime adventure you definitely do not want to miss!

We’re aware that these uncertain times are limiting many aspects of life as we all practice social and physical distancing. While we’re continuing to feature destinations that make our state wonderful, we don’t expect or encourage you to go check them out immediately. We believe that supporting local attractions is important now more than ever and we hope our articles inspire your future adventures! And on that note, please nominate your favorite local business that could use some love right now:

If you’ve already checked the New River Gorge Bridge catwalk off your list, then you may want to consider a stroll along West Virginia’s very own, stomach-dropping Via Ferrata.
